Well, it all started Monday. I was driving home from dropping DH off at work, when the brakes stopped working! I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor, and BARELY stopped at the stop light. It was a little scary, since I had all 5 of the kids with me! Anyway, that happened right before we were home, which was good.
That night, when DH called to tell me to come get him, I forgot this nice little episode. I know, I'm an idiot, right? *sigh* Well, I drove to the store, borrowed the clerk's cell phone and called DH. He asked if I could make it to my in-laws; I told him I thought I could.
And, I did. FIL and DH went to the parts store, bought what they needed (it was in the brake line; apparently, it had rusted out), came home and attempted to fix it. However, they needed another part, and the parts store was already closed. So, we had to spend the night.
Tuesday morning, they went to the parts store again, and ended up fixing the problem. YAY! We had brakes!
However, while they were fixing the brakes, they found a hole in the gas line...will this never end??? So DH made an appointment with the mechanic; we were to take the truck and drop it off Wednesday morning.
He took Tuesday off so we could get all of our running around done, planning to have the truck back Wednesday evening. Wednesday morning, DH took the truck to work and dropped it off.
So...Wednesday, I have no truck...which drives me crazy! I know it doesn't make any sense; I had nowhere to go, so it shouldn't have bothered me, but it did. Kia went outside to grab a leaf (for science class), and both big dogs FLEW out the door! BAD DOGS!
Yeah....we didn't find them. It was Belle's and my dog, and Dakota's dog. What I mean is, Luke is mine AND Belle's, and Tessa is Dakota's. Well, surprise, surprise, we couldn't find them. They were GONE.
Yesterday morning when I woke up, still no dogs...I was (unrealistically, I know) hoping that they would be on the porch, wagging their little tails, so happy to see me! Guess what? They weren't. I cried...nope, not ashamed to admit it, I love my dog!
We brought DH to work; when we got there, something in the truck's engine was kinda whining...that's the best way for me to describe it...so we figured, a belt! A belt is loose or something. So I drive home. By the time I make it almost home, there is now a clunking sound in the engine. YIKES! So, I think...OK the belt's broken! Better get that fixed!
Again, by the time DH called for a ride home, I forgot about the "condition" of the truck. I go out to start it (because it's FREEZING out there!) and all I hear is a very loud "clunk clunk clunk". YIKES!!! Yep...so, back on the phone I go! He tells me not to drive it, he will come home and look at it.
He and his dad show up, look at the truck, and come back in with somber expressions. Stupid, blonde me says "So, which belt is it? Are you going to buy it now?" HA! As if...nope, they proceeded to tell me that the problem is the rod...(what the heck is THAT???) Apparently, what this means in blonde woman terms is that if I drive the truck, the engine will go bye-bye.
This is NOT good. I have things due at the library (yeah, they charge $2/day PER ITEM if it's late...can't afford that), we're almost out of food (my plan was to go shopping when DH got home last night, rather than take 5 children to the grocery store!)...and the girls were supposed to start their co-op classes today!!! I paid $$ for those classes, I don't want them to miss half of them because they don't have a ride.
The library is only a mile away; however, we would have to cross a major street (remember, we're in the city now
) And with 5 kids, I'm a little nervous about trying it...but, we just may; who knows? That's why we bought the wagon...I'm just worried about keeping the baby warm. I can buckle Belle & Dakota into the wagon, hold Amber's hand, and Ashley & Kia can walk in front of me. IDK, I'll figure it out.
I can't, however, walk to the co-op classes; they are about 3 miles away, but that's going on the Interstate; I am pretty sure the powers that be would not appreciate one woman with 5 children walking on the Interstate. I'm almost positive that it would be frowned upon!
Anyway, the best part of yesterday (other than the girls' excitement over the co-op classes they now can't make it to) is that Lukie came home!!! It was so shocking, really...if ANY of them came home, we figured it would have been Tessa, since she's the hunter...Luke's just a Doberman puppy! But, anyway, I'm so excited that he's home. Now all we have to do is figure out what to do about our truck...I'm hoping they can just fix it this weekend, but this could be an ignorant hope from a blonde woman!
